I had a great time last Halloween weekend visiting Iowa and attending the Iowa GOP’s first ever “Growth and Opportunity Party” that attracted 2,000 Iowan activists and a slew of presidential aspirants. Being a political junkee and political consultant, I was excited to see the candidates again up close and personal just like I did earlier in the year in Iowa. Adding to the excitement was seeing and hearing from these candidates only a few days after the last debate. Every major candidate had booths staffed with volunteers and campaign paraphernalia but two notables were missing from the event and they were poll front runners Donald Trump and Ben Carson. Trump’s campaign gave no specific reason for his absence and Dr. Carson announced earlier in the week that he was temporarily suspending his campaign to go out on a book tour to promote his latest book. First to speak was Kentucky libertarian Senator Rand Paul....Read more...
